If your model has long hair, a long coat/jacket, a big flowy dress, etc, pay attention to the wind.  Instead of letting wind be an annoyance, have your model face into the wind so that the flowy items blow away and give your portraits a dramatic look.  Pay attention and wait for the wind to blow and shoot through the wind event.
