I've always been a comic book lover. I didn't really find out about cosplay until after I became a photographer. For me, cosplay means that I get to actually photograph superheroes and villains. What's most important to me when shooting cosplay is accuracy in terms of place. I try to get that character photographed in a location where they would actually be. This blurs the line between reality and fantasy and allows the viewer to fully enjoy the image.
I'm also a big fan of cosplay by people of varying sizes and shades. Rockabilly Roxie kills this version of Black Cat
